Join Henty's Hero, Rupert, during the great War of the Spanish Succession from 1701-1714, in his swashbuckling adventures throughout Europe. Several European powers combined to stop a possible unification of the Kingdoms of Spain and France under a single monarch, upsetting the European balance of power. The war was marked by the military leadership of notable generals like the duc de Villars, the Jacobite Duke of Berwick, the Duke of Marlborough and Prince Eugene of Savoy. Rupert comes to the aid of the Duke of Marlborough, thus launching his career as the Cornet of the 5th Dragoons. He rescues several ladies in distress, and displays a bravery in battle and even all the way into the court of King Louis XIV of France. His heroism is put to the test, as he is captured and thrown into the dreaded dungeon of Loches. Will Rupert be able to escape in time to save Adele and help the Duke win the war?
